Thomas Olds, Jr.
Mr. Olds founded Generations Healthcare in January of 1998 with a single 89-bed skilled nursing facility. Since that time he has grown the company to encompass numerous facilities throughout Northern and Southern California with more than 2,000 beds. His business strategy focuses on quality and service while remaining mindful of the challenges and changes facing older adults in today’s world. Mr. Olds began his career in the long term care industry in 1989 at GranCare, a small LTC start up. He was a key member of the acquisition and operations team that grew GranCare from just a few hundred beds to over 10,000 beds and a place on the NYSE. In 1994, he was a founding partner in Covenant Care, Inc. focusing on business development and operations. During his tenure with Covenant Care he directed the acquisition of more than 30 skilled nursing facilities, four pharmacies and a therapy company. He also led the building of the corporate infrastructure with both management and information systems.
Chief Financial Officer
Lois has been part of Generations Healthcare since its founding in 1998. She began her career working with an international public accounting firm where she served as a financial and reimbursement consultant to Regency Health Services, a start-up long term care company. She joined Regency and took the company through its subsequent growth from 21 facilities to over 100 facilities, the enterprise later acquired by Sun Healthcare Group. Following Regency, she joined Covenant Care, Inc. as Director of Reimbursement. She was a valuable contributor to Covenant Care’s growth to over 40 facilities. She departed to join KPMG LLP to assist with their efforts to develop their Western Region Long Term Care Consulting and Advisory Practice. Lois graduated from Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania.
Steve Black, N.H.A.
Director of Operations
Steve began working for Generations Healthcare in 1998 as Administrator of Vista Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. In 2001 he was named Senior Administrator for Generations Healthcare’s Northern Region. He was instrumental in transitioning newly acquired facilities and has trained several “administrators in training” who are now facility Administrators. He is currently Director of Operations over all of Generations Healthcare facilities. Steve has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Health Administration from Central Michigan University.
Nadine Heideman, L/OTR
Director of Rehabilitation Services
Nadine oversees all rehabilitation services for Generations Healthcare through TheraGen, the therapy component of the company. Nadine began working in the therapy field in 1981. She brings a wealth of experience in Occupational Therapy and Therapy Management. While working at Cedars-Sinai Hospital as the Supervising Therapist, Nadine recognized the need for full therapy services at TCUs, Acute and Long Term Care hospitals and founded Select Therapies to provide this service. Her clients included Beverly Manor, GranCare, Summit Health and Covenant Care.
Emily Gard, RN, MHA, LNC
Director of Clinical Operations, Northern California and San Diego Region
Emily began her nursing career in 2006 and joined Generations Healthcare in 2016. She oversees all clinical operations for Generations Healthcare’s Northern Region and San Diego Regions. Emily previously served as a Director of Nursing for several skilled nursing facilities, Chief Clinical Officer and Regional Sr. Director of Clinical operations for a hospital division, Director of Special Projects for a large skilled nursing organization and was a nurse for the military for 13 years.
Michelle West RN, BAHA, RCFE, RAC-CT, WCC
Director of Clinical Operations, Southern California
Michelle began her nursing career in 1994 and joined Generations Healthcare in 2016 overseeing all clinical operations for Generations Healthcare’s Central and Southern Regions. Her expertise includes special focus facility turnarounds, quality assurance, policy and procedure development, skills validation programming and staff development framework. She has overseen clinical services at several skilled nursing companies including Covenant Care, Lifehouse Health Services and Apex Healthcare Solutions and Healthcare Management. She has her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of San Francisco.
Andrew Boyd, N.H.A.
Regional Operations Director, Northern Region
Andrew began his career with Generations Healthcare as Administrator at Vista Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in 2004. He currently oversees all of the company’s Northern California facilities encompassing more than 1,000 beds and more than 1,300 employees. Andrew recruits top talent to ensure a cohesive team of expert health care providers.
James Geddie, N.H.A.
Regional Operations Director, Southern Region
As regional operations director, Jim oversees all of Generations Healthcare’s San Diego-area skilled nursing and special care facilities. He began his healthcare career in 2000 as Administrator at Generations Healthcare’s Arbor Hills Nursing Center. Jim has guided the Southern Region facilities through numerous upgrades and remodels to provide top notch rehabilitation care to the San Diego community.
John Mastrocola, N.H.A., CDR, USNR (ret.)
Regional Operations Director, Central Region
John started his career in the long term care industry following eight years of service as a Naval Officer on active duty. A veteran of two Gulf Wars, he retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves after 23 years of service as a Commander. John joined Generations Healthcare in 2009 as Regional Operations Director of the Central Region and Administrator of Newport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He began his healthcare career in 1996 at Covenant Care, and was a regional director with North American Health Care. As Regional Operations Director, John supervises the post-acute, rehabilitation and special care needs of facilities in Orange, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Santa Barbara Counties.
Tracie E. Murray, N.H.A., J.D.
Senior Leadership Regulatory Advisor
Tracie began her healthcare career in 1988 and joined Generations Healthcare in 2004 serving as Administrator at Cedar Crest Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. In addition, Tracie also holds the role of Regulatory Advisor for Generations Healthcare. She received her Juris Doctor from Concord Law School in 2011. She has been a licensed Nursing Home Administrator since 1991. Tracy is involved in numerous community groups and associations and has received several awards including Rotarian of the Year in 2013, a Distinguished Service Award from the California Association of Health Facilities, and was named an Outstanding Business Woman by the American Business Women Association.
Marissa L. Brandel, Esq.
Marissa began working in the healthcare industry in 1996. She has provided legal counsel to Generations Healthcare since 2007, supporting the regulatory compliance and policy development for every department at GHC. She oversees all contracts and litigation. Marissa received her Juris Doctor degree from Chapman University School of Law.
Director of Human Resources
Ms. Rogers is a senior human resources professional with more than 30 years of experience in a variety of leadership roles for large organizations within both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. She previously spent several years in a variety of executive human resources positions throughout the St. Joseph Health System, one of the largest Catholic healthcare systems in the western United States. Her prior human resources experience includes diverse roles in retail and insurance services. Ms. Rogers has a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences from Cal State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She is a past member of Toastmasters International and her passion for community service includes prior service on the Board of Directors of the North Orange County YWCA, Chino Valley YMCA and The Let it Be Foundation.
Director of Business Development
Tim began his career in Healthcare in 1988 at Pfizer and later worked for Amgen for 17 years in various sales management and key leadership positions. Tim joined Generations Healthcare in 2013 and directs sales and marketing for all of the company’s facilities. He handles sales and marketing functions, strategic account development, admissions, community outreach, contracting, managed care, physician relations and hiring and training for customer outreach. He is the company’s liaison with key physicians, hospital leaders and healthcare companies.
