Generations Healthcare Announces Plans for New Facility in National City, CA
Plaza Special Care Center will expand access to residential behavioral health care for at-risk individuals with disabilities.
NATIONAL CITY, CA—August 21, 2025—Generations Healthcare is pleased to announce plans for Plaza Special Care Center, a new 68-bed residential behavioral health facility in National City, California. The facility will serve adults, including seniors and those with disabilities, who are experiencing housing instability and have limited care options outside of hospitalization.
The project reflects a growing commitment across the state to invest in solutions that are community-based for vulnerable populations. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, with the first residents anticipated to be accepted by late 2026.
“We’re proud to breathe new life into this property and expand access to critical care in the community,” said Thomas Jurbala, Director of Business Development, Behavioral Health at Generations Healthcare. “Plaza Special Care Center will provide the stability and care that members of the community who are overlooked by the traditional healthcare system deserve.”
In addition to meeting a critical care need, Plaza Special Care Center will bring economic benefits to the area by creating hundreds of local jobs. The site, previously a vacant hotel with ongoing challenges, will be completely revitalized into a welcoming space built for healing. With other Generations Healthcare facilities Friendship Manor and Castle Manor already operating nearby within just one mile of the site, the company is working to strengthen the network of care available to the community.
